Chinese Import & Export Commodities Exhibition (Malaysia) 2007 will be held during December 13-16, 2007 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia. This year’s exhibition is the 4th session which will attract nearly 200 exhibitors and 8,000 buyers.

1. More attention from the government and broader support from chambers and associations
CECEM 2007 receives great attention and support from Malaysian and Chinese government, chambers and associations in Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Firstly, Chinese officials from the Ministry of Commerce of PRC and YB.DATO’ Haji Ahmad Husni Bin Mohd.Hanadzlah, Vice Minister of Malaysian trade and Industry, will also attend the opening ceremony and inspect the exhibition. Secondly, during the exhibition, officials and experts from Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association will attend related conferences and deliver speeches. Thirdly, a series of folk performance will be arranged by the Ministry of Tourism of Malaysia during the Opening Banquet on the evening of December 13th. Fourthly, CECEM 2007 also receives great support from the economic and commercial counselor’s offices of embassies of P.R C in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Chinese chambers and associations in Malaysia, Malay Chamber of Commerce, Indian Chamber of Commerce, Chambers of various industries such as machinery, hardware, building materials, Indonesian Chinese Entrepreneur Association, Indonesian Chamber Commerce and Industry, Indonesia China Business Council, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Singapore-China Business Association. Great support from governments and associations help the CECEM gain an extensive recognition from all circles in Malaysia and other ASEAN countries.
2. Highly representative exhibitors and active participation by old and new exhibitors
CECEM 2007 attracts about 170 Chinese enterprises from 15 provinces, cities and autonomous regions such as Guangdong, Zhejiang, Hunan, Guangxi, Jiangsu, Hubei, Hebei, Chongqing, Jilin, Hainan, Guizhou, Tianjin, Ningxia and Xinjiang. Besides, nearly 30 enterprises from ASEAN countries participate in the exhibition. The exhibitors are highly representative: some of them come from coastal areas of eastern China with developed economy, others from western and central part of China, and still others from ASEAN countries. Among these exhibitors, many have participated in CECEM since the 1st session, while over 100 exhibitors will participate in the exhibition for the first time, including many famous enterprises. With their high quality exhibits, all the exhibitors are optimistic about the market and investment opportunities.
3. A large variety of exhibits with abundant new exhibits
According to the experience of the previous 3 sessions and responses in Malaysia and ASEAN countries, 4 categories which will meet the demands of Southeast Asia market better will be arranged to exhibit in this session, they are: machinery & electronics; building & decoration materials; household products and decorations, products with features of ethnic groups and food. Each category covers a wide range of products. For example, the category of machinery & electronics includes high quality carrier, collecting vehicle, electronic collecting vehicle, work platform, machine spare parts of embroidery, TV Antenna, coaxial cable, etc. The category of building & decoration materials includes aluminum plastic board, aluminum ceiling panel, aluminum roll, taps, fountain, hardware fittings, etc. The category of household products and decorations includes bamboo straw mat, bedding sets, handicrafts of daily use, outdoor furniture, tents and fittings, decorations with Chinese features and decorations meeting Islamic demands. Products with features of ethnic groups and food include seasonings, tea, cool fruit, halal food, etc. Lots of new exhibits of above-mentioned categories will be exhibited in the exhibition. Different categories will be arranged in different sections with different colors, so that buyers can easily find the exhibition sections they like. 4. More efforts in promotion and more extensive coverage
This session chooses many effective promotion channels to enlarge extensive coverage. First, adopt new cooperation mode and cooperate with excellent media in ASEAN countries such as Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia to conduct extensive cooperation. Second, increase the quantity of advertisement in radio stations in Malaysia and ASEAN countries to make sure that the news about the exhibition will be heard at the prime time in December. Third, send promotion delegation to ASEAN, South Asia and Middle-East and get support from 20 chambers and associations in the above mentioned regions. Fourth, 2007 is the Visit Malaysia year, so the exhibition is promoted together with tourism to other ASEAN countries like Brunei, Indonesia and Philippines to attract buyers from outside Malaysia. Fifth, promote this exhibition in Spring and Autumn session of the Canton Fair in 2007 and post 50,000 invitation and messages directly to potential customers. The increasing reputation of the CECEM is attributed to all these promotion channels.
5. Seminars held to promote bilateral communication
In order to promote mutual understanding and communication, and with the help of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, Malaysian Industrial Development Authority, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of China, Jilin Province of China, Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Indonesian Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce, Bumiputra Manufactures & Services Industry Association of Malaysia, and Association of Small and Medium Enterprises of Malaysia, ASEAN Market and Investment Environment Seminar, Halal Food and Process Technology Seminar, and Seminar for Exchanges of SMEs in China and Malaysia will be held during this session. Experts and professionals from different circles will discuss trade and investment opportunities in China and ASEAN countries, exchange information, broaden horizon, and create business opportunities for enterprises.
6. Reception more courteous, Service more personalized
This session of CECEM will provide more considerate and courteous service for exhibitors, visitors and other participants. For example, we will improve the entrance registration procedure which will facilitate fast and convenient entrance, and we will set up a VIP reception office to provide personalized service for professional buyers registered in advance. Moreover, we will provide IPR related information on our official website for inquiry and set up a consultation office of IPR protection at site for the first time. We believe that more courteous reception and more personalized service will make all the participants feel at home.

The trade volume from January to October in 2007 reached US 163.533 billion dollars, increased by 25.9 year-on-year. China shares great cooperation potential and broad prospect with ASEAN. The CECEM is a platform of win-win cooperation and mutual development established in Malaysia by the Ministry of Commerce of China which will definitely promote substantial cooperation in trade and investment among China, Malaysia and ASEAN countries.
