Malaysian government is considering to impot food and other necessity stuff due to the insufficiency of local markets.

Malaysian government will not hesitate to import necessity items and foodstuffs if local traders are unable to meet consumers' demand at controlled prices.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Auk Mohd Shafie Apdal said this after presenting aid to flood victims in Gurun, northern state of Kedah on Thursday.
"We can import the goods so that there is enough supply in the market and consumers can enjoy affordable prices," the national news agency Bernama quoted Shafie as saying.
On the price of chicken, he said, the ministry had found out that the suppliers were able to provide 22 million chickens a month and therefore, there was no reason for the price to be raised above the ceiling.
Earlier, the government announced that it won't raise the ceiling price of chicken, which the sellers said will bring them a great loss.
