“Our mission is to improve the quality of patient healthcare through the application of our unique software solutions enabling faster, more accurate diagnosis and treatment to help improve the quality of life for patients," said Kevin McDonnell, managing director at Digital Healthcare.
The software was chosen and deployed in light of the the university's research program on diabetic retinal screening. The test has been deployed for use in 41 schemes across England and Wales, covering 1.2 million diabetics.
The Hong Kong facility had set up specific contract specifications that included storage and retrieval of patient demographics, archiving and backup of images, a call and recall system for patients appointments, a program for grading images and generation of reports to GPs, patients and hospital consultants.
The facility also wanted a DICOM-standard information exporting process. The software had to be compliant with the UK National Screening Program for Diabetic Retinopathy as well as having the ability to integrate with the Hong Kong Hospital Authority's computer management system.
