Nokia to deploy Maemo OS in future smartphones

"Symbian is much too unwieldly to keep up with modern operating systems," according to the FTD source adding "We must react."

Nokia company officials refused comment on Monday stating, "We do not comment on speculation."

It was a year ago that Nokia acquired UK based Symbian, Ltd. paying 264 million Euro. In April the mobile phone supplier brought out their new OS based on the Linux operating system which is supported by thousands of volunteer developers.
