According to a report, World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) released a new forecast for the global growth rate of chip sales in 2007, predicting that the global chip sales will hit $257.2 billion and its growth rate is to reach 3.8%, exceeding 2.3% predicted in May.

WSTS also said that European chip sales will rise 3.2% in 2007, reaching $41.2 billion. Asian chip sales will jump 7%, reaching $124.6 billion. The outlook for American chip sales is not promising and the sales volume only reaches $42.8 billion, dropping 4.7%. Chip sales in Japan will see an increase of 4.7%, reaching $48.6 billion.
Also, WSTS said the current situation may be changed significantly next year. Europe will see the most robust growth with its chip sales growth rate reaching 6.2% in 2008. Asia remains the fastest growing region, its chip sales growth rate to hit 12.5%. American chip sales for next year will rebound, expected to increase 7.2%.
